This
Week at the Tasting Bar
Playing at the movies right now is a film called Julie
& Julia. The film is based on two best-selling memoirs: Julie
Powell's Julie & Julia and My Life in France, by Julia Child with
Alex Prud'homme. The film details how the lives of Julie and
Julia, even though they are separated by time and distance, are
intertwined. Food lovers, aspiring chefs and anyone who is at a
crossroads in life will appreciate this movie. Bottle Shock is a
film based, very loosely, on the famous 1976 blind tasting in Paris in which
two California wines came out on top. With that in mind we're going to
be tasting wines from France and California as our little homage to
these two movies. We hope you'll join us on Thursday from 5-8
p.m. or Saturday from 1-5 p.m. (We'll bring the popcorn!)
Here's what we'll be pouring:
Dry Creek Chenin
Blanc, 2007, California (Clarksburg)
Noel Bougrier
Vouvray, 2007, France (Loire Valley)
Buehler Vineyards
Russian River Chardonnay, 2007, California (Sonoma)
Folie À Deux
Ménage à Trois (Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon
blend), 2008. California
Juveniles
Crozes-Hermitage Syrah, 2007, France (Rhone Valley)
