Jerome Quiot DOMAINE HOUCHART Rose Cotes de Provence
We love rose wines here at The Savvy Wine Cellar and
will be pouring them all summer at The Tasting Bar for you to see
why.
This rose is made from a blend of grapes which give it a gorgeous bright
pink color and a bouquet of fresh berries. It has wonderful flavors of
raspberry and strawberry, leading to a dry lingering finish Mom will
love. Enjoy it on the deck as an aperitif or pair it with bacon wrapped
scallops on the grill.
Thirsty Owl Dry Riesling 2007
What is better on a warm summer day then a refreshing local
wine from our own Finger Lakes region. The one wine that they do better
than any other is Riesling, and a marvelous expression of this grape is
the dry Riesling from The Thirsty Owl. This is a wonderfully balanced
wine with flavors of lemon and pineapple, leading to a mouthwatering
finish which is long, smooth and elegant.
Cono Sur Viognier 2008
The team here at the Cellar spends a great deal of time each week tasting
new wines for your enjoyment (Yeah, it's tough work, but someone has to
do it!!!).
Viognier tends to be a wine used for blending, and can be cloying and
extremely floral when vinified on it's own as 100% Viognier.
However, when we tasted this lovely wine, we all looked at each other and
said 'Eureka', this is the one!!
It has sweet notes of apricots, citrus and peaches on a light floral
nose. This Viognier is fresh and lively in the mouth with good acidity
and a persistent, long finish.
This is an outstanding aperitif wine that is sure to be a great crowd
pleaser.
First Drop 'The Red One' 2008
This is a superb blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Barbera. This
wine provides an explosion of fruit, with a hint of spice and a mouthful
of flavour. It is rich, lush and polished, providing a mouthful of ripe
cherry and raspberry fruit. This is yet another wine to drink on it's own
or with grilled pork or just a simple hamburger.
