This
Week at the Tasting Bar: FABULOUS FALL FESTIVAL OF WINES
We are excited about this week at The Savvy Wine Cellar because on
Saturday, November 14, from 2 to 5 p.m. we are hosting our Fabulous Fall
Festival of Wines. This tasting will feature wines from four distributors
pouring five wines each to help you prepare for the upcoming Thanksgiving
and holiday seasons. If you are hosting Thanksgiving at your
house...if you are planning a holiday party...if you need a special
holiday gift...if you are stocking or restocking your savvy cellar...you
cannot miss this event. We'll have tasting notes and food pairing
suggestions for each wine and staff to help you find whatever you
need. But, this is a one day only event.
Because this Fabulous Fall Festival of Wines Tasting is so special, we
will not be tasting wines this week on Thursday or Friday evening.
So, don't miss a chance to taste and purchase many fabulous wines at
Tasting Bar reduced prices. Make sure you stop in between 2 and 5
p.m. on Saturday, November 14. Here's what we'll be pouring:
Sparkling Wines:
Poema Cava Extra Dry Sparkling Rosé, Domaine St. Vincent Sparkling,
Coppola Sofia Sparkling Wine
Gewurztraminer and
Riesling Wines: Hazlitt Vineyards Gewurztraminer, Mercer
Estates Riesling, Selbach Saar Spatlese Riesling
Other white wines:
King Estate Pinot Gris, Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc/Viognier, Wente Morning
Fog Chardonnay
Red Wines:
Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre, Buehler Zinfandel, Care Tinto
Tempranillo/Syrah, DeLoach Russian River Pinot Noir, Di Majo Norante
Sangiovese, Joel Gott Zinfandel, Jargon Pinot Noir, Ramsay Pinot Noir,
Stickleback Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz, Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot
Noir
Dessert Wine:
Wagner Riesling Ice Wine.
There are so many wines that we don't have space to include the tasting
notes today. But we will include them in Friday's newsletter. So,
make sure you're on the lookout for it!
Savvy Recipe of the Week
We're always looking for ways to "lighten up" our
favorite recipes. This week we found a Vegetarian Cassoulet that
uses Great Northern white beans instead of duck . It looks terrific
and we're going to have it for dinner one night this week. Try it
and let us know how it worked for you. We found it on
Epicurious.com. Here's
the link to the recipe.
And here are the wines we recommend that you try with it:
Honig Sauvignon
Blanc, 2008 (California) $15.99
Domaine des Anges Côtes
du Ventoux Red Blend, 2006 (France) $14.99
Vilhuela Concierto
del Rojo, 2005 (California) $15.99
