"Pick
of the Week"
And while you're in the shop over the weekend, make sure you taste some
of Allison's Pick of the Week. It's a delicious white
blend...Regaleali Bianco Tasca D'Almerita. Regaleali Bianco is the first
wine produced by Count Tasca d'Almerita on the Regaleali Estate. A blend
of three Sicilian grapes-Inzolia, Catarratto and Grecanico-this is a
versatile, refreshing, and delicious white wine. Regularly
priced at $12.99, it is ON SALE this week for $10.99/bottle.
Savvy Cooking
Looking for something different to do with ground turkey? Try this
recipe from Epicurious.com. Grilled Turkey Burgers with Cheddar and Smoky
Aioli will be the big winner at your home or tailgate party this
weekend. And, because you can do a lot of the prep work ahead of time,
it's pretty quick and easy. Dale and Allison tried this one on
Wednesday night and loved it. The Terra Noble Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon,
2007 vintage, from Chile was a great match with the smoky flavors of the
burger. But any of the suggested wines would be fabulous. Check
this out.

Upcoming
Events
September 24: John Nissen of
Southern Wines and Spirits will be our guest pourer on Thursday evening
from 5-8 p.m. He'll be pouring five brand new wines from his
company that we've decided are unique and affordable AND must haves in
our shop. John began his wine adventure around 1990 and honed his
appreciation of the grape while working in many local fine-dining
establishments. He decided to expand his knowledge and further
increase his love of wine about five years ago when he entered the
distributor side of the business. Many of the wines in the portfolio that
he represents are unique and affordable and he'll be pouring some these
for you on Thursday night. We're confident that you're going to
want to bring some home with you after you've tried them! Please plan on
being here that evening to welcome John to The Tasting Bar and taste
these new arrivals.
October
8: Stephen Black, winemaker at Small Gulley Wines (Mr.
Black's Concoction and The Formula Shiraz) will be here from 7-8 p.m. to
discuss and pour these wines and others that he makes. This will be
a fun evening that you won't want to miss.
No need to sign up for these events because they are regular Thursday
night tastings!
12% Tuesday
The 12% discounted selection for Tuesday, September 22, is Chardonnay
from California. Whether you like them big, buttery and full of oak; or
if you prefer them a little more fruit forward, next Tuesday is your day
to stock up because our California Chardonnays will be discounted 12% at
the cash register. Don't wait or you'll miss it! (12% discount does not
apply to sale wines or End of Bin Specials.)
Friday Night Bonus Tastings
During the SU football season we've added an additional
night at The Tasting Bar. Stop in on Friday from
5-8 p.m. to get the weekend off to a good start. Or, if you're
thinking that you just have too many items on your Saturday errand/chores
list to make in to The Savvy Wine Cellar, you won't have to miss out on
anything we taste because we'll be right here on Friday waiting for you
to come on in! And, of course, we'll be here Saturday from 1-5 p.m.
Sunday Hours
Our new Sunday
hours are so popular that we've decided to open one hour earlier.
Beginning this week through the Fall and Winter we'll be open from noon
until 5 p.m.
As always, thanks for your support. We truly appreciate your business.
CinCin!
