Save
Big During Our Customer Appreciation Sale-June 25 through June 27!
We love our customers-all 800 plus of you! And we want to show
you how much your support and encouragement means to us. Since we
opened our doors on April 4, 2009, we have been excited, thrilled and,
at the same time, humbled by your positive response to our wine
store. New people come into the shop daily and tell us how much
they "love the look and atmosphere" of The Savvy Wine Cellar;
how happy they are that there is a shop like ours "on this side of
town."
And, even more encouraging to us is the loyalty of our returning
customers. You know who you are. You are the folks who plan
much of your Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons around The
Tasting Bar at The Savvy Wine Cellar. You've told us that you do
this because you appreciate the fact that you can taste a wine before
you buy it; that you can learn a little bit about the varietal or the
region it is grown; you can sometimes even hear a little story about
the winemaker or the estate. And you just plain like coming into
the shop.

This Week at The
Tasting Bar
This week we're featuring wines to kick off your summer
celebrations. Whether it's a graduation party, bridal shower,
engagement party or Fourth of July picnic, we think this week's wines are
sure to please all the adults at your event. Here they are:
Mionetto Prosecco
Brut (NV), Italy (Veneto) The Mionetto Prosecco Brut has
an intense fruity bouquet with a hint of golden apples. It is very
dry, fresh, light in body and well-balanced. As an aperitif è
perfetto. Or enjoy Mionetto Prosecco Brut with appetizers to get
your party started.
Chateau LaFayette
Reneau Chardonnay Proprietors Reserve, 2007, NY (Seneca Lake)
A classic New York State for adults to enjoy while celebrating New York
State's graduates. This proprietor's reserve Chardonnay from
Chateau LaFayette Reneau shows what a Finger Lakes Chardonnay can
be. It has classic, slatey minerals, beautiful fruit and clean
flavors. This wine is wonderful as an aperitif or pairs well with
grilled chicken. It is a very well-crafted wine with an excellent
balance of fruit and cellar flavors.
Tasca D'Almerita
Regaleali le Rose 2007, Italy (Sicily)
This beautiful Rosé wine from Sicily blends one of Allison's favorite
Sicilian grapes (Nero D'Avola) with Nerello Mascalese to create a wine
that has bright, light red color and a crispy, fruity aroma. It's
not at all sweet but has flavors of strawberry and cherry and, even,
fresh roses that create a wonderful sensation in the mouth.
Excellent as an aperitif it is also very versatile and matches well with
a wide variety of dishes including linguini with red clam sauce, fried
calamari or cod with roasted tomatoes. Wine Advocate scored this
wine at 87 points
Leese-Fitch
Merlot 2006, California, (Napa)
Don Sebastiani's The Other Guys is the producer of this purely delightful
and delicious Merlot. It is crimson in color and has intense aromas
of dark chocolate, red huckleberry and a hint of cassis. There are
deeply concentrated flavors of dark fruits (black cherry, boysenberry and
blackberry) in the mouth and the finish has a little bit of white pepper
spice along with some elegant French vanilla notes. This wine would
pair well with rib-eye steaks hot off the grill. Add a big green
salad and toss in some roasted beets. How's that for a Fourth of July
meal? Terrific!
Marquis-Philips
Sara's Blend 2007, Australia (Southeast)
In the words of Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) "Opulent,
voluptuous and full-bodied, with low acidity and sweet tannin, this is a
blockbuster red that sells for a song. If you like fruit, flavor
and character, this is a big-time winner to drink over the next 3-4
years." And then he scored this wine at 90 Points! This
is a wine you don't want to miss.
